This time, I stayed at the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel, a luxury hotel located inside Abeno Harukas, one of Osaka’s best-known landmarks.
I booked the stay using Marriott Bonvoy points, making it a great opportunity to enjoy a little luxury.
With spectacular views over Osaka, elegant interiors, and Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite benefits, I was really looking forward to my stay.
However, not everything went quite as planned.
I learned an important lesson about early check-in!
In this review, I’ll share what I loved about the hotel, the Platinum Elite benefits I enjoyed, and a few things I wish I’d planned differently.

Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel: A Luxury Stay Above the City

The Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel is located inside Abeno Harukas, a skyscraper standing approximately 300 meters tall.
Situated in Osaka’s Tennoji and Abeno district, the hotel is a convenient base for exploring the city.
The lobby is on the 19th floor, while the guest rooms are located on floors 38 through 55.
And the biggest attraction? The incredible views over Osaka!
The moment I stepped into the lobby, I was impressed by the soaring ceilings, spacious layout, and elegant hanging light installation.
Huge windows offered sweeping views of the city below.
It was a wonderful first impression and made me even more excited about my stay.
Staying with Marriott Bonvoy Points and Platinum Elite Status
I booked this stay using Marriott Bonvoy points.
One of the things I love about collecting hotel points is being able to treat myself to a hotel I might hesitate to book at the regular cash rate.
I was also staying as a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member.
At check-in, I was told that my room had been upgraded from the entry-level category to a Deluxe Room.
To be fair, the upgrade didn’t feel like a particularly big change.

But room upgrades aren’t the only benefit of Platinum Elite status.
I was especially looking forward to spending time in the Executive Lounge, which turned out to be one of the highlights of my stay.
My Early Check-in Mistake: A Lesson Learned!
Now, here’s where things didn’t go quite as planned.
I arrived at the hotel around 1:00 PM.
I had an online business meeting scheduled for that afternoon, so I was hoping to check in early, settle into my room, and get some work done.
Unfortunately, my room wasn’t ready yet.
I asked whether early check-in was possible, but there wasn’t a room available.
So I decided to wait in the lounge next to the lobby and ordered a cup of tea.
And the price?
USD 11.5 (JPY 1,800) for a cup of tea!
Well, I guess that’s luxury hotel pricing!
Even by 2:00 PM, my room still wasn’t ready, and I ended up being late for my online meeting.
The hotel’s standard check-in time is 3:00 PM, so I really should have planned my afternoon more carefully.
Although Platinum Elite members receive several valuable benefits, early check-in is subject to availability and isn’t guaranteed.
My advice: If you have an important meeting or a tight schedule, don’t count on being able to check in early, even if you have elite status.
I’ll definitely keep that in mind next time!
A Comfortable Deluxe Room with Incredible Osaka Views

Once I finally got into my room, it was time to relax and enjoy the hotel.
The room had a calm, elegant feel, with crisp white bedding, comfortable furniture, and a neutral color scheme.
Near the large window were a table, chairs, and a comfortable armchair.
But the best feature was definitely the view.
From high above the city, Osaka seemed to stretch endlessly into the distance.
After sunset, the city lights created a beautiful nighttime panorama.
I could have sat by the window for hours, just enjoying the scenery.
This is exactly what makes staying in a high-rise hotel so special.
Hotel Pajamas and a Japanese-Style Bathroom
The room also came with comfortable hotel pajamas.

Another feature I appreciated was the bathroom.
It had a modern design, with glass panels separating the bathroom area from the bedroom.
The bathing area was Japanese-style, with space to wash separately from the bathtub.
For international visitors who haven’t experienced a Japanese-style bathroom, here’s a useful tip.
In Japan, it’s common to wash and rinse your body before getting into the bathtub. The tub is primarily for soaking and relaxing rather than washing.
After a long day, being able to enjoy a proper soak in the bathtub was a lovely way to unwind.

Platinum Elite Benefit: Afternoon Tea in the Executive Lounge
One of my favorite parts of the stay was the Executive Lounge.
As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, I was able to enjoy the afternoon tea service at no additional cost.
The lounge is located on the 38th floor.

What impressed me most was how spacious it felt, especially with its remarkably high ceilings.
Even at that height, the lounge had an open, airy atmosphere.
It was a lovely place to sit back, enjoy some tea, and take a break from the busy city below.
What Was on the Afternoon Tea Menu?
There was a nice selection of sweet treats, including:
- Small cakes
- Tiramisu
- Pudding
- Scones
- Freshly prepared panini from the live cooking station
The panini was a particularly nice addition, offering something savory alongside the desserts.
Unfortunately, I was so busy enjoying the food that I completely forgot to take pictures!
Not exactly ideal for a travel blogger!
Although the room upgrade hadn’t made much of an impression, the lounge experience certainly did.
If you enjoy spending time at your hotel rather than simply using it as a place to sleep, lounge access can make a real difference.
Complimentary Breakfast in the Executive Lounge

The next morning, I returned to the Executive Lounge for breakfast.
Breakfast was also included with my Platinum Elite lounge access.
I chose a selection of croissants, eggs, ham, cheese, and fresh salad.
There were plenty of vegetables, which I really appreciated.
The lounge also offered freshly prepared egg dishes.
You filled out an order sheet and handed it to the staff, then helped yourself to the buffet while your eggs were being prepared.
There were Japanese breakfast options as well, which is a nice opportunity for overseas visitors to enjoy a more traditional Japanese breakfast.
The lounge was peaceful in the morning, and I could take my time over breakfast.
Both the afternoon tea and breakfast were very good.
For me, the Executive Lounge was the most enjoyable Platinum Elite benefit of this stay.
Of course, lounge access and other elite benefits can vary depending on membership status, hotel policies, and availability.
