JAL Sakura Lounge at Domestic Haneda Airport: A Brand-new look!

Travel

Haneda Airport’s JAL Domestic Sakura Lounge has a brand-new look!

On October 8, 2026, the JAL Sakura Lounge in the North Wing of Terminal 1 at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport reopened after a major renovation.

I recently had the chance to visit the newly renovated lounge, and I was impressed by its bright, welcoming atmosphere, comfortable seating, and beautiful wooden interior.

But there was one change that particularly caught my attention.

There are now four different Japanese beers to choose from!

If you enjoy Japanese beer, this is definitely something to look forward to before your flight.

Let’s take a look inside the new JAL Sakura Lounge!

A Fresh New Look at the JAL Sakura Lounge

Located in the North Wing of Haneda Airport Terminal 1, the JAL Sakura Lounge serves eligible passengers traveling on domestic JAL flights.

The lounge reopened on October 8, 2026, with a completely refreshed interior.

The renovation is not just about appearance. The new layout offers different spaces for relaxing, working, and spending time with family.

Whether you want to catch up on emails or simply unwind before your flight, the lounge offers a comfortable place to do so.

Warm Wooden Interiors and Comfortable Seating

My first impression was how bright and spacious the lounge felt.

The interior features natural wood finishes combined with furniture in warm shades of brown, orange, and gray.

The rounded chairs add a modern, welcoming touch, giving the lounge an atmosphere similar to that of a stylish hotel.

Comfortable sofas are arranged throughout the central area, while counter seats along the windows offer excellent views of the aircraft outside.

Wooden vertical panels along the corridors create a clean and elegant appearance.

Combined with the gray walls and soft lighting, the design makes it easy to forget the busy atmosphere of the airport outside.

It’s a relaxing space where you can enjoy a quiet moment before departure.

Four Japanese Beers! A Great Surprise for Beer Lovers

Now, let’s talk about my favorite part of the renovation.

The lounge now offers four different Japanese beers!

Four beer dispensers are lined up side by side, featuring Japan’s four major beer companies:

  • Asahi
  • Kirin
  • Sapporo
  • Suntory

These are some of the best-known beer brands in Japan.

If you’re visiting Japan, this is a great opportunity to experience different Japanese beers in one place.

You can choose your favorite or try comparing their flavors.

For beer lovers, it’s a nice way to start a domestic journey.

And even if your flight is relatively short, spending a little extra time in the lounge can make the travel experience more enjoyable.

Of course, beer isn’t the only option.

The lounge also offers coffee, tea, whisky, and a variety of soft drinks.

Whether you prefer an alcoholic drink or something refreshing without alcohol, there are plenty of choices.

Relaxing with a View of JAL Aircraft

One of my favorite things about airport lounges is sitting by the window and watching airplanes.

The newly renovated Sakura Lounge offers a wonderful view of JAL aircraft parked outside.

There’s something special about enjoying a cold drink while watching planes prepare for departure.

It really makes you feel that your journey has already begun.

The window-side counter seats also come equipped with electrical outlets and USB charging ports.

This makes them convenient for charging your smartphone, checking emails, or doing a little work on your laptop.

For me, these window seats are among the best spots in the lounge.

A Clean and Convenient Drink Station

The drink station has also been redesigned to match the new interior.

Soft drink dispensers, ice machines, and coffee equipment are neatly arranged along wooden counters.

Glasses are carefully organized, and the entire area feels clean and easy to use.

Whether you’re in the mood for hot coffee or a cold drink, everything is conveniently located.

It’s a small detail, but one that makes the lounge experience more pleasant.

Convenient Lockers for Your Carry-On Bags

The lounge also provides lockers for storing your carry-on belongings.

The wooden locker doors blend nicely with the interior design, and each locker features a dial-style lock.

This is particularly useful when you’re traveling with a larger carry-on bag and want to move around the lounge more comfortably.

More Than Just a Beautiful Renovation

The renovated Sakura Lounge offers several areas designed for different needs, including:

  • Dining areas for enjoying drinks and refreshments
  • Relaxation areas for unwinding before departure
  • Working areas for business travelers
  • Kids’ areas for families traveling with children

Another convenient improvement is the introduction of a smartphone-based system for requesting shower facilities.

These changes show that the renovation focuses not only on design but also on making the lounge more comfortable and convenient for travelers.

Final Thoughts: A Great Way to Start Your Journey in Japan

The newly renovated JAL Domestic Sakura Lounge at Haneda Airport offers a fresh and comfortable environment for travelers.

With its warm wooden interior, spacious seating, convenient facilities, and excellent aircraft views, it’s a lovely place to spend some time before your flight.

And for beer lovers like me, having four major Japanese beer brands available in the lounge is definitely a highlight!

If you’re taking an eligible JAL domestic flight from Haneda Airport Terminal 1, consider arriving a little earlier to enjoy the lounge.

Sometimes, the best part of a journey begins before you even board the plane.

Have a wonderful trip!
