An onsen (温泉) is a Japanese hot spring, where people enjoy bathing in naturally heated mineral water.Japan has thousands of onsens
Unlike ordinary baths, authentic onsens use natural hot spring water. Many have beautiful outdoor baths called rotenburo, where you can relax while enjoying the surrounding scenery.
A few things to remember:
- Wash your body before entering the bath.
- Swimwear is generally not allowed.
- Men and women usually bathe separately.
- Check the facility’s rules regarding tattoos.
